[周刊王CTWANT] 主校區位於美國馬里蘭州巴爾的摩的研究型私立大學「約翰斯霍普金斯大學」(The Johns Hopkins University)於美東時間13日宣布,受到川普政府削減科研經費的影響,該校將在美國國內和境外裁員超過2000人。

據悉,這將是約翰斯霍普金斯大學史上最大規模的裁員,涉及247名美國國內學術機構工作人員,以及境外44國的1975個職位,還有約100名員工被迫放假,或工作時間遭到縮減。這次裁員影響了彭博公共衛生學院(Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health)、醫學院和非營利性國際衛生組織「Jhpiego」。而被裁員的員工將在裁員生效前至少60天前收到通知。

約翰斯霍普金斯大學當天發表聲明稱,該校的大量研究計畫由聯邦政府資助,因此「這對我們整個社區來說,是相當艱難的一天。營銷軟件尤其超過8億美元的美國國際開發總署(USAID)資金被終止,將迫使我們不得不縮減在巴爾的摩和國際上的重要工作」,不過校方指出,學校對受影響項目感到「無比自豪」,這些項目涵蓋了抗擊疾病等大量「拯救生命的工作」。
